I’m really looking forward to working with these sheets some more!Ĭheck out these plastic box projects I cut with my Silhouette machine here, here, and here, using these same plastic sheets. Next time I’m trying something 3D, like boxes. And creases did not show stress marks, so even the little breaks here and there are hard to see. In all of those tiny details, for all 19 of those card fronts I punched out, I only had a few breaks. I don’t recommend such an intricate design unless you are willing to spend some time on it, but I was extremely impressed with how the plastic behaved. I cut these snowflake backgrounds for my Christmas cards (see this post) and absolutely love how they turned out! The weeding took some time because I had to pop out every single hole using a paper piercer or an exacto knife for the fine point, but they did pop out easily. If your blade has trouble cutting this, then you can opt for 2 passes. There are two models of Silhouette Sketch pens the newer model with black bodies and the older model with white bodies. They are rollerball style pens that come in 24 different colors including primary brights, neons, glitter, and metallic inks. My CAMEO cut them with ease using a heavy cardstock setting (blade 3, speed 3, force 33). Silhouette Sketch Pens are short, stubby little bullet pens that fit nicely into Silhouette machines. I bought these from, but you can probably also find them at your local office supply store.Īccording to my sources, the thickness is 7 mil. They are letter-sized clear plastic sheets used for binding as a cover onto presentations.
#THICKNESS SETTING SILHOUETTE SKETCHPEN PLUS#
Thanks in advance.I have a new favorite medium to work with in the Silhouette machine! I got a great tip from a friend on the Silhouette Plus forum and bought a pack of clear plastic presentation covers. So my question is what blade and settings would be best and most reliable for that thickness of cardstock? I have seen the deep cut blade and the different kraft blades, but I have read that they don't handle corners very well and I am cutting rectangle shapes. Even then that is still spotty and sometimes it won't cut completely through and leaves frays behind. 4- Select all of the sketch portion of the design and click on. Note: If you only own a CAMEO 3 it only comes with the Auto Blade, so you’ll need to purchase a ratchet blade or follow Method 2, below. Place a regular ratchet blade (set for the paper type) in right/blue tool-holder 2. So I kept testing and found the only time it cuts through completely is on blade 9 or 10, but it also cuts into my mat. Place the sketch pen in the left/red tool-holder 1. I started with the suggested settings for heavy card stock (7 blade, 33 force, 1 speed, 2 passes) and adjusted the speed up to 5 and found it wasn't cutting all the way through. I have had spotty success cutting it with both the autoblade and the premium (metallic blue cap) blade. I have recently started printing board game elements and am doing cards on 120lb, 325 gsm cardstock. I'm relatively new to Silhouette and Cameo machines and have been slowly discovering more on my Cameo 4. Other Machines: have a Cricut, Big Shot, or other cutting machine? This flair is for you. It comes with three black pens and one white pen. If you find yourself using a lot of black sketch pens, this convenient pack is perfect. Use the sketch pens to draw elaborate designs or to add a hand-drawn look to your projects.
